Air Conditioning Service - How Much Does an Aircon Service Cost?

How much will it cost to service your air conditioner? The answer to that question is: “When was the last time you had it serviced?”

How much servicing an air conditioning unit will cost you is based on several factors. The first being how long the machine has been running without a service. Other factors that must be considered: Filter blockage severity. The amount of contamination on the coils and fins. The dustiness of the air quality at the location. The amount of air-borne grease particulate in your kitchen. Volume of smoke particulate in your workshop. How old the machine is.

Air Conditioner Servicing Fees Explained

There is a fixed call out fee which will normally include the first hour, during normal office working hours.
Outside of normal working hours and on the weekend - there is an additional call-out charge. A call-out does NOT include parts replacement, or system removal from site. This can only be established once the unt has been inspected.
Obviously, an Aircon Specialist or professional HVAC Technician who travels hours to get to your house will charge a different rate than if you hired someone closer to you.

Air Conditioner Repair Cost Based on Service and Unit Type

Different air conditioner types ie: Window, Inverter, Split, Multi-Split, VRV Systems are made up of different distinct parts, so the price to repair them will vary, too. HVAC replacement is also a factor.

Not ALL of these will apply to you. Perhaps just two. Or three.
The following variables will give you an idea of what might dictate the total costs.

What Make or Brand?
Some AC brands will cost more to repair if they need more expensive parts. For instance, less popular aircon brands and the latest aircon models may have fewer parts available. Likewise, popular air conditioners from well-known brands may cost cheaper to repair if they use generic parts.

Size and Power
Large air conditioners, those with more horsepower, require more time to repair. Hence, increased labour costs and more expensive replacement parts. Smaller air conditioning systems tend to be less pricey since parts replacements are smaller and, thus, cheaper.

Warranty Coverage
Obviously, if your Air Conditioner unit suddenly breaks and needs parts replaced or fixed, you will check its Warranty to see if you are covered. If the warranty period is over, prepare to spend more on necessary parts.

 Bad Smell

Air conditioning units are recirculating the air within the room. Therefore, smells and odours build up on the cooling coils. The system is removing the moisture from the atmosphere, and therefore, you can have a build-up of bacteria that can only be removed with specialist chemicals. Having the units regularly serviced is a sure-fire way of eliminating these bad smells.

 Poor Performance

Having the unit regularly serviced will maintain the optimum performance of the air conditioning system. When a unit has not been serviced the build-up of grime prevents the air conditioning system from ‘breathing’ both in and out. This will often result in not only poor performance but increased running costs and system failures. A positive sign that a system is blocked, is the build-up of ice on either the indoor or outdoor units. Call our expert air conditioning engineers today.
